VOLUME REPLACMENT AFTERCARE

Facial Volume Replacement treatments results can take up to 2-4 weeks to settle before the predicted results can be seen. Immediately after your appointment you may notice the
following common effects.

- Bruising

- Tenderness

- Itchiness

- Swelling 

- Asymmetry

It is important not to touch or massage the treated areas and to wait for the 2 week
follow up with Rebecca. You may use a gentle cleanser to clean your skin but avoid
actives such as retinols and Vitamin C serums for 24 hours.

Thing to avoid;

- Exercise and excessive sweating for 24-48 hours

- Avoid sleeping on the treated areas for 48 hours, propping pillows either side
with help you to sleep on your back.

- Do not apply make up or lipstick for 12 hours

​

- Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight, UV exposure, freezing temperatures
or sauna/hot baths for 2-4 weeks.

​

- No facials, peels, face down massages, waxing, skin needling for 2 weeks
post dermal filler treatments.

​

- Avoid alcohol, caffeine, blood thinning medications (if medically cleared)
for 48 hours to avoid further bruising.

If you have previously had cold sores around the treatment area the use of antiviral medication is recommended 1 week pre and post treatment to avoid reactivation. 

Pain post treatment is usually mild but can be sometimes moderate especially in if the lip or chin areas were treated. Paracetamol will usually suffice for comfort. If swelling is present a cool compress 10 mins every hour on the day of treatment may help reduce the swelling. It is imperative that ice is NOT applied directly to the skin. Ice packs can be purchased in store if needed as well as Arnicare post care products. Arnicare ingredients contain arnica, niacinamide, arnica montana and curcuma longa extracts which have been well known for centuries for their abilities to reduce swelling and minimise bruising. Arnicare  products are available as a post treatment cream and well as a lip balm.

Less common side effects with Dermal fillers can be increased pain and tenderness, swelling lasting more and a few days, nodules, filler migration (usually occurs if an area has been overfilled) and allergic reactions. The most serious concern post any volume replacement treatment is the rare occurrence of blockages of arterial vessels called vascular occlusions. These mostly occur in the treatment chair and will be quickly addressed with our safety protocols that are in place. 

You are encouraged to have a follow up appointment at 2 weeks post your treatment to assess the results or to adjust the treatment plan for your next appointment.
